There is a misconception that picking the right bike is easy. They think that all they have to do is pick out which bicycle looks the prettiest to them and allows them to sit comfortably. This is wrong, the fact is there are more things to consider these days than there was a few years ago. Cycling is very popular at the moment, be it for sports, fun, transportation etc. With all these uses there are many different bikes to go with each. Today more people are choosing to ride a bicycle as their primary forms of transportation. Lots of families have taken up cycling as a family hobby. The first thing to ensure is you get a bike that is the right size. Begin by measuring your inseam. Simply measure through your inner leg from your groin to the bottom of your foot to find out your inseam. You should ideally be able to place both feet on the ground when sitting in on your bike. This is for saftey reasons and will allow you to stop the bike if your brakes fail, avoiding any injury.

Are you going to need to accommodate extra accessories? If you have to move things using your bike, you’ll certainly want to add a basket. Will you ever carry a my site child on your bike? If this is the case, you must choose a bike that can support a child's seat. How about towing something behind the bike? Choose a bike that can support the weight of a trailer, if this is something you’ll do.

Ask yourself the number of gears necessary for your bike. Choose according to how you’ll ride; mountainous areas require more gears than flat land areas do. Just because a bike has more gears doesn't make it better. You may never even get around to using all the available gears. Don't waste your money on something you won't use. Of course, if your cycling bicycle is going to be your primary mode of transportation you might need to make sure you have enough gears to handle rough situations.
